Cheesecake
Introduction
The second day of the new year 2021 and we are already at a weekend. Can the start be any better? But there aren’t too many new releases lined up this week. So it gave me an opportunity early on in the new year to scout for content. And so after much deliberation I decided to give the web series Cheesecake a crack on MX Player. This one is from TVF that actually sealed the deal, do they nail it yet again, stay tuned.
Story & Screenplay
Cheesecake is the story of a married couple who are barely going through the motions, till a furry visitor changes their life. The story, as with all TVF productions, is heartwarming. The screenplay is also quite relatable(some part of it, no I am not married yet). The thing with TVF is that they try to keep the proceedings extremely real. And so what you get are real situations that transform into real emotions. Just one of those things is having a pet that could be your bundle of joy. This series is exactly that with a heart warming and endearing screenplay that will literally melt your heart towards the end.
Dialogues, Music & Direction
The dialogues are so relatable, simply excellent. I loved the way music found its way into this series. The use of BGM is good too. Director Palash Vaswani has kept the subtlety intact and handled the subject extremely well. His direction is top notch!
Performances
There are host of cameos from Mahesh Manjrekar, Dilnaz Irani and Chandan Roy Sanyal all of whom are outstanding and a treat to watch. Devika Vatsa as Megha definitely makes her presence felt. Kumar Varun(apna KV) is simply hilarious. Suhaas Ahuja as Iqbal is quite good. Jitendra Kumar as Neel is on point as usual. It is series like this that has made him a household name. He is simply brilliant. But my pick of the lot is Akanksha Thakur as Sameera who is such a natural. Her screen presence is amazing and she is outstanding. Our little furry friend Aaryan is so cute, just wished to cuddle him!
Conclusion
Cheesecake is a heartwarming and endearing tale that will leave a smile on your face. Available on MX Player and Highly Recommended!
