Bicchoo Ka Khel

RATING
3.5 Star popcorn reviewss

Last month on the occassion of Dussehra, Amazon Prime has released the much anticipated Mirzapur 2, much to the elation of the viewers. Now if you are still living under a rock and have still not watched Mirzapur 2, you may skip the first paragraph of my review. Because MIRZAPUR SPOILER ALERT – Munna Bhaiyya was shot dead. But But But, Munna bhaiyya is back this weekend with another series set in UP called Bicchoo Ka Khel. Now it is unfair to compare it with the magnum opus Mirzapur 2 but does it stand a ground of its own, lets find out.

Based on the book by Amit Khan by the same name, Bicchoo Ka Khel is the story of a murder that takes place in broad daylight. But there are more murders before and after it. And so the mystery unfolds! The story though not novel is still very engaging. The screenplay is extremely fast paced that doesn’t allow you to think. There are innumerous twists and turns, perhaps one major twist(a few rather unexpected) in every episode that will keep your interest alive throughout. And it is a whodunnit and so you do play the guessing game along with some quirky and twisted humour. On the flipside, the characters lack depth(which is the price you pay generally for a fast screenplay). Also, the climax is a bit of a letdown with some poorly executed sequences and VFX. But the screenplay is extremely entertaining which amounts to a green tick in the report card. The dialogues are fabulous(with quite a few expletives) and there are loads of memes waiting to be made through them. The use of music and BGM are quite good that nicely compensate for poor production value. Director Ashish R Shukla who is having his third release of the year(after the outstanding products like Undekhi and Bahut Hua Sammaan) is in red hot form. His direction is excellent with never a dull moment.

Prashansa Sharma as Poonam is just hilarious. You have seen her in Mirzapur too and she is in a different Avatar here. Shreedhar Dubey as Pandey is also so funny, his comedy is on point. Abhinav Anand as Vikas is excellent with a great sense of comic timing. Aakash Sahay as Mahendra has his moments to shine. Mukul Chadda as Lalit(yes Lalit plays Divyendu’s father here๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚) is pretty good. Rajesh Sharma as Bade Bauji is once again excellent. His wife Pratima portrayed by Trisshna Mujherjii is fabulous. Akanksha Thakur as Renu has some good screen presence. His step son(yes thats how twisted the characters are๐Ÿ˜…) Goldy played by Abhishek Chauhan is phenomenal. This is again his third release of the year and this man has good range as an actor. Gagan Anand as Rajveer has done a splendid job too! Zeishan Quadri as Tiwari is probably the best actor on display here. His one liners are hilarious! Anshul Chauhan as Rashmi is the find of the series for me. She is confident and I really wish to see more of her in the future. Divyenndu as Not Munna Bhaiyya but Akhil is superb yet again. I just cannot believe he is the same Liquid from Pyaar ka Punchnama. I really hope he keeps getting such changes because he is absolutely nailing them down! And Munna Bhaiyya Amar Hain!

On the whole, Bicchoo ka Khel is highly enjoyable and will keep your interested throughout. And the meme community is going to have a field day too! Available on Zee5 and Alt Balaji
