UNDEKHI

RATING
4 Star popcorn reviewss

This is the weekend for the webseries, as many as three released this week. And as promised yesterday, after Breathe : Into the Shadows, here is my second review of a webseries. So, I had a choice between Mafia(on Zee5) and Undekhi on Sony Liv, and I chose the latter. And I have just finished watching it, is it worth your time, stay tuned!

Undekhi follows the story of a murder accidently being captured at a wedding and the proceedings that follow. The story is gritty and hard hitting. The screenplay is also very well written. Standing at 10 episodes of 30 minutes each, each episode throws in a twist to keeped you hooked and booked. On the downside though, after an outstanding opening, the plot gets just a little muddled in the middle(though still keeps you invested). But the pre climax hits you where it hurts the most and the end is setup nicely for the next season. The dialogues filled with expletives are very good. Director Ashish Shukla definitely knows his job and his direction is just spot on!

The performances hold your attention throughout. Vaarun Bhagat as Lucky is terrific. Ankur Rathee as Daman(after Four More Shots Please and Thappad) delivers yet another fine act! Shivangi Singh as Muskaan has her moment to shine especially at the end. Sayandeep Sengupta as Shashwat is pretty good. Ayn Zoya as Saloni who is a bit conflicted is outstanding and has tremendous screen presence. Anchal Singh as Tej looks pretty and has done a swell job! Abhishek Chauhan as Rishi(you may have seen him in Cubicles) is such a treat to watch and you end up feeling fof his character. Harsh Chhaya as Papaji is excellent in a tole that demands some level of physicality. Dibyendu Bhattacharya as DCP(not Inspector😅) Ghosh is superb and he also delivers some of the lighter moments, and his style of interrogation make for some of the best scenes! Apeksha Porwal as Koyal is a fine actress with a towering persona onscreen. The pick of the actors for me though is Surya Sharma as Rinku, the cold blooded, stopping at no extent kind of person. You will actually hate him and want to beat him up, which means he has done an outstanding job.

Touted to be based on a true story, Undekhi is an outstanding watch. It forces you to think of what decisions would you take, if you are thrown in such a situation. And the proceedings in the series will definitely fire you up and you will keep thinking about them long after the series is over. Available on Sony Liv and Highly Recommended!
