MUM BHAI

RATING
3 Star popcorn reviewss

The last week has been frenetic with so many releases to dig in and a newly launched site to maintain. So barring the two theatrical releases which I decided to skip because of Corono(duh..), all the other new releases are covered. Which brings me to my final review from last week, the cop-underworld drama Mum Bhai on Zee5 and Alt Balaji. Is it worth your time, lets find out.

Set in the 90s and early 2000s, Mum Bhai is the story of an encounter cop who makes more than one enemies along the way while he makes it to the top. The story is routine and not novel. But the screenplay has quite a few moments that will keep you invested. Here I would like to point out that it is in no way a masterpiece or anything that you haven’t seen already. But not all series have to be path-breaking right? Some of them might just be your guilty pleasure and Mum bhai is exactly that. It has some good old gun battles and some interesting sequences and equations of characters. The negative part is that some parts of the screenplay are cliched and pretty routine. Also the climax is a bit bland. Having said that the fast paced screenplay with keep you on your toes throughout. The dialogues filled with expletives are massy. The BGM is decent but the music is pretty good. Director Akshay Choubey has done a fairly decent job with this crime drama. He packs in all the ingredients required in a crime drama rather successfully.

The performances are decent. Sunny Hinduja as Zaheer definitely makes his presence felt. Madhurima Roy as Rangana looks pretty and has done a fabulous job. Sandeepa Dhar as Vaishnavi has done an excellent job, her character definitely leaves a mark. I really enjoyed watching Sameer Dharmadhikari as Anant. Vishwas Kini as Shirodkar is cunning and shrewd, a job well done. Sikandar Kher as Rama Shetty is the pick of the actors for me. He is simply outstanding. Angad Bedi as Bhaskar Shetty is sincere and does a good job here though his written character should have been more overpowering. No fault of his, he is pretty good.

Mum Bhai is a good crime drama which can be binge watched from start to finish. Available on Zee5 and Alt Balaji!
