Aapkey Kamrey Mein Koi Rehta Hai
Swiftly moving onto the next webseries for the weeknd. I have just finished watching Aapkey Kamrey Mein Koi Rehta Hai. And for starters lets just call it AKMKRH please? This series premiered on MX Player and it was the stellar cast that caught my attention. And this promised to be a fun Horror Comedy – A genre that may have been invented to avoid being an unintentional comedy in the horror genre. So is it worth your time, stay tuned.
Story & Screenplay
AKMKRH is the story of a group of bachelors that are on a househunt till they find themselves a 4BHK flat. Unfortunately for them, the house is haunted. To be honest, the story didn’t really excite me yet I was hoping for the screenplay to be a spooky laugh riot. Instead it turned out to be a trainwreck. It is extremely underwhelming with little to no laughter through and just no horror too. It is sad that the talented troop of actors actually opted for this substandard script. The writing is just so bad and I will just leave it at that.
Dialogues, Music & Direction
The dialogues are strictly average. In the horror genre it is the BGM that has to be spooky, something that we saw being done well in Stree. Sadly, here the BGM does not exude any confidence. Director Gaurav Mehra has made a hash of the proceedings. If the screenplay was not muddled enough, his direction just makes it look even worse.
There is no denying the talent on display here. But the acting cannot save the day if the writing is bad. Sumeet Vyas seriously needs to introspect the kind of roles he is opting for. Amol Parashar and Ashish Verma are just about average. Another talent that needs introspection is Naveen Kasturia who showed a lot of promise in TVF Pitchers and Sulemaani Keeda. Swara Bhasker is good here but her role is terribly underwritten and lacks logic.
Aapkey Kamrey Mein Koi Rehta Hai is a disaster. Steer clear. Available on MX Player.
