Super Over

Introduction

A term usually associated in cricket in case of a tie – Super Over. It was in 2019 when the infamous World Cup Cricket final had ended in a thrilling super over between England and New Zealand that had the entire world in awe. But this ain’t that movie. I have just finished watching Super Over on Aha, nothing to do with that final and very little cricket backdrop. So then what is it about and more importantly if this is worth your time, stay tuned.

Story & Screenplay

Super Over is the story of three friends getting involved in a bookie scam on a crazy night. The story is faced paced and barely allows you any respite. The screenplay is equally pacy, not allowing you time to breathe. Its running length is just 83 minutes from which you can make out that the writers do not provide any diversions. The drama is extremely engaging, particularly in the latter half when there are a bunch of people involved. And the twist after twist(more of a bunch of coincidences) ending in a crazy finale is just the icing on the cake. More importantly, I just loved how the writers glued together many events in the story. Extremely Enjoying!

Dialogues, Music & Direction

The dialogues are very enjoyable, some featuring the friendly banter is hilarious, none of them being melodramatic. The BGM does full justice to the drama. Director Praveen Varma does a fine job in tragically what turns out to be his last film after his sudden demise. A small token of appreciation to him – his job is simply fabulous.

Performances

Harsha Chemudu is excellent in a cameo. As the corrupt cop, Ajay is pretty intimidating and superb. Rakendu Mouli as Naveen provides some comic relief effortlessly. Chandini Chowdary as Madhu looks so pretty and has excellent screen presence. The more I see her the more impressive she looks. Naveen Chandra as Kasi has all the makings of a leading man. His personality demands your attention.

Conclusion

Super Over will keep you guessing right till the very end on how this would end. A crazy thriller that will leave you gasping for breathe. Available on Aha and Highly Recommended!
