Introduction

Heartstopper, a masterpiece of 8 episodes makes us all swoon worthy. “A boy meets a boy and both fall in love”- this series will make us feel how a simple line can have so much impact and power.

Screenplay & Storyline

The story unwraps with Truham Grammar High School student, Joe Locke as Charlie Spring’s emotions, who’s not so self-confident and is in a secret relationship with a guy who doesn’t give him the respect he deserves, Only meets him in secret when he feels like being with a boy but Charlie being Charlie accepts that without saying anything. But this one-sided relationship starts cracking when Charlie is assigned to sit next to Kit Connor as Nicholas “Nick” Nelson, a rugby player from there Charlie can’t help but slowly fall in love with Nick as nick gives him respect and everything which he didn’t get from his ongoing secret affair. As times goes on, we get to see how not so confident Charlie started giving himself first priority and realizes he also deserves respect and unconditional love. And we get to see Nick who’s not sure about his sexuality explores his interest and started accepting himself. This drama not only focuses on romance but how a relationship should be like with full of support, love, encouragement between friends, family and lover. The representation of LGBTQ is so top-notch that no matter what’s your sexual orientation, it will make you root for Nick and Charlie’s blooming love.

Conclusion

Generally, I don’t watch romantic drama, I feel it sets unrealistic expectations but this series made me fall hard that I finished in one sitting and will surely binge watch multiple time because it’s a comfort drama with friendship trust and support.
