Introduction

Well..Well..Well!! There have been so many movies made on corruption. Literally so many that I have lost count. And to top that up if there is a genre that has been done to death with, then that is Action. This week’s release, Satyameva Jayate is a deadly combo of both of these, does it have anything new to offer….lets find out.

Story & Screenplay

Satyameva Jayate follows the story of a man who is on a killing spree, killing corrupt police officers. An honest police officer is given the responsibility to track him down. And so begins a game of cat and mouse. If you are not enjoying reading this review so far then blame it on the movie! The story is quite stale and done to death with. The screenplay has its moments(good interval point and a couple of well written scenes) but they are strategically placed between long spells of mediocrity. The dialogues are aimed at the front benchers but sometimes evoke laughter unintentionally. The music was not required but the movie has two songs in its narrative. Director Milap Milan Zaveri who last directed the sex comedy Mastizaade has done a decent job here but he has only himself to blame(he doubles up as the writer too).

Performances

The performances by its leads save the day to an extent. John Abraham has done what he knows best-flex his muscles, smash the bad guys to pulp and mouth a few decent dialogues. Aisha Sharma is wasted. To set a perspective, she cries in the climax, ONLY CRIES!! Manoj Bajpayee tries very hard to make some sense out of the proceedings. And he does succeed mostly. Kudos to his acting skills. All others are either wasted or average!

Conclusion

If there was an award for ‘Best Average Movie of the year’ then Satyameva Jayate would win it hands down. If Gold took me back to the 1940s then Satyameva Jayate took me back to the early 90s. That is not good news by the way! But then the movie is atleast watchable. If you still enjoy mindless masala movies then go give this a shot, else steer clear. PS : This was way better than Race 3! Give credit where it is due!
