Acting, Direction & Cinematography
There are so many things to appreciate here about this film. Mani Ratnam’s direction, brilliant acting by the lead pair (DQ and Nithya Menon), cinematography etc.
The everyday conversations, the frenzied camera movements, the moving traffic, buses and trains building the atmosphere of a scene even when conversations and conflicts form an important part of it.
The music by AR Rahman deserves a special mention here. It’s probably one of the finest soundtracks I have ever heard in a film as I have never been so addicted to a soundtrack so much. It’s that good.
This film is a reminder that visionary directors like Mani Ratnam can make such amazing films so easily. Don’t know how much effort he applied here, but it’s still a must watch for many an incurable romantic.
