If I were to pose a question to you, what is that one unique movie that comes to your mind? After a few recommendations, I decided to watch this Tamil Film, Oththa Seruppu Size 7, a drama thriller in a mould of a serial killer murder mystery. How does that sound to you? And what if I tell you, the whole movie revolves around only a single character(with no other actor and only voices contributing to the drama). Fascinating? Stick around for the whole review.

Oththa Seruppu Size 7 is a story of a mentally challenged man being interrogated for a murder, except that he confesses to more than one murder. The story is nothing I have ever seen before. Unique, witty and one of the smartest scripts that I have come across! The screenplay is dialogue bound. It is a slow burn and requires patience but do stick around because the finale will just suck away every ounce of your breath! The final 10 minutes elevate the screenplay to an exorbitant level! In other words, the movie grows on you! Director Parthiepan has taken such a risky approach and he has come out with flying colours. His direction is a cocktail of David Lynch and Quentin Tarantino, Magnificent is the word!

Yes, one character as I had mentioned earlier and it is the director himself- Parthiepan. Give him an Oscar already! What expressions, what acting! He has to do all the heavy lifting by himself and he just showcases the terrific range that he has as an actor. I cannot tell you how privileged I am to witness such a towering performance.

Oththa Seruppu Size 7 is a treat for all cinephiles. It may or may not be everyone’s cup of tea but a true cinema lover will just applaud it for its brilliance. Remember, it is a slow burn and requires patience to sit through the talk but the drama slowly grows on you to make it one of the most memorable watches ever!
