BAHUT HUA SAMMAAN

RATING
4 Star popcorn reviewss

I have said this time and again, Yoodlee Films has the heart of a Big studio. Not only does it have an eye for good content, but also backs small and independent filmmakers which in turn results in fresh content being presented in the most unique manner. And so when Hotstar announced a new film from Yoodlee Films, I was naturally excited. And so I have just finished watching Bahut Hua Sammaan, is it rib tickling, stay tuned.

Bahut Hua Sammaan is the story of two engineering students who plan to loot a bank. This is just the beginning for a roller coaster ride. The story has so much more to it. It is funny as well as satirical. The screenplay is filled with so many laugh out loud moments. The best part of it is that while bringing in the current affairs of our country into the picture, this could easily have been a grim and hard hitting affair. Instead, the entire film is presented in a comedic manner, also presenting it in a comic book fashion, something that you may have seen in films like Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota. The makers do not take names but if you are well versed with things going around in our country, then you will know whom they are referring to. The dialogues filled with expletives are hilarious. The choice of old Hindi songs just adds a freshness to the drama. Director Ashish R Shukla(who had earlier directed the brilliant Undekhi) has once again proved his mettle in the direction department. His direction is spot on.

The ensemble have done a phenomenal job. Namit Das as Rajat does tickle your funny bone more than once in his cameo. Rohit Chaudhary as Chandu Bhaiyya is superb. Dibyendu Bhattacharya as Bairagi Maharaj also impresses. Sharat Sonu as Bhola and Bhupesh Singh as Raju are excellent. Flora Saini as Sapna looks pretty and has done a wonderful job. Ram Kapoor as Lovely who is making a habit of transforming into an antagonist, is spot on as the assassin with dead pan expressions. Nidhi Singh as Bobby Tiwari is once again brilliant. The girl is on a roll isn’t she? Abhishek Chauhan as Fundoo is a highly underrated actor and he is very good here too. Wish he gets more such chances in the future. His partner in crime, Raghav Juyal as Bony matches him shoulder to shoulder and both share an amazing onscreen chemistry. Sanjay Mishra as Bakchod Baba is awestruckingly brilliant in a never before seen role. That finale action scene, wow!

Veiled as a comedy, Bahut Hua Sammaan has an important message at the end. But more importantly it is funny and entertaining and another winner coming from Yoodlee Films. Available on Hotstar VIP and Highly Recommended!
