After years, we are shown a grown Rambo who lives a double life, as a cab driver in the morning and bouncer at night. In his two lives, he falls for Khatija (Samantha) and Kanmani (Nayanthara), two women with contrasting personalities. After the two women end up proposing to him, Rambo feels the jinx in his life is broken and he gets all that he wanted in life in double portions. Direction, Screenplay and Acting Performances
Director Vignesh Shivan has created an interesting storyline with the three main characters. Even though everything looks to be on track in the beginning of the movie, the plot starts to waver as the film progresses. The film turns out to be another romantic comedy without any purpose and fails to do justice to the star cast of Vijay Sethupathi, Nayanthara and Samantha. What we miss here is real conflicts and complications involved in a three-way relationship.
The lead cast of Vijay Sethupathi, Nayanthara and Samantha have done an excellent jon to elevate even ordinary scenes inspite of the mediocre script. A single-shot scene in which Vijay Sethupathi delivers a lengthy dialogue illustrates his acting brilliance. Nayathara and Samantha have complimented each other well, proving why they are the most sought-out actresses in the industry.
Music, Cinematography and editing
One of the most positive attributes of this film is the music by Anirudh, who makes it a pleasant experience with his foot tapping numbers and emotional background score. The cinematography by Vijay Kartik Kannan and editing by A. Sreekar Prasad has also been done really well.
Final verdict
Overall, Kaathuvakkula Rendu Kadhal is a decent entertainer and can be only enjoyed in parts.
