Hero
Introduction
Rishab Shetty and Rakshit Shetty have been two pillars of the Kannada Film Industry. They have their own brand of cinema that is starkly different from what is being made anywhere else in India. They enjoy a huge fan following and dare I say cult status with films like Bell Bottom. So when I came to know that Rishab Shetty’s latest Kannada film is out on Zee5, I jumped at the opportunity of enjoying it. I was mentally prepared though that it will be an over the top Mass Masala Entertainer. Does it live upto my expectations, lets find out.
Story & Screenplay
Hero follows the story of our Hero who wishes to save his Heroine from a Villain. Yeah that is exactly the plot. Nothing novel you would say? Think again! This is a Rishab Shetty Special. The treatment of the story is such that I have never ever witnessed before. It is quirky and entertaining. The screenplay plays a perfect foil to the story. It will make you laugh your lungs out and continue to entertain you through its innovative action sequences. And if you think the story is straight forward, think again! It is filled with unexpected twists and turns that will make your jaw drop as you continue to marvel at the writing which is top notch. For example, without giving out too much, there is an incident that happens within the 1st 40 minutes thst you would usually associate it and expect in the climax. Which makes you wonder, how on earth would they continue with the story. But the story continues as you often are left teary eyed with all the laughter in what is the quirkiest screenplays of recent times culminating into a climax taylor made for Rishab Shetty and his antics! And do not forget to take notice of the pop culture references too!
Dialogues, Music & Direction
The dialogues are filled with one-liners that go supremely well with the mood of the film. The music is good and the BGM is top notch. Director Bharath Raj has done a phenomenal job here. Not only does he marvel in his story telling technique, the humour is intact throughout and a large part of the credit goes to him.
Performances
The performances are simply outstanding. Pramod Shetty is brilliant as ‘The Villain'(yes they don’t have names). Ganavi Laxman as the ‘Heroine’ is much more than a prop, she can definitely kick some ass! And she is simply superb throughout. And the magician Rishab Shetty shines yet again as the ‘Hero’. Right from the first scene, he sets the tempo straight
Do not miss him in the climax where he is supremely hilarious! This one is a Rishab Shetty Special!
Conclusion
Hero is one of the finest action comedies you will ever see! One of the finest films in recent times from the Kannada Film Industry. Available on Zee5 and Highly Highly Highly Recommended.
