FUKREY RETURNS
Year 2013, a small film with new faces released to a rousing reception. Fukrey, found an instant connect with the youngsters giving the characters a household name. Now a brand, and amidst a certain buzz, releases Fukrey Returns. Will it live up to its predecessor….lets find out.
Fukrey Returns is a proper sequel to the 2013 flick, Fukrey. But if you haven’t watched the first one, you need not worry as the filmmakers have introduced a song in the beginning which pretty much sums up part one. This one takes off from the point where the first one ended. Story-wise this is a good one although a little less funny. The screenplay has some laugh out loud moments but the second half gets a little serious only to liven up towards the end. The dialogues are on point and the one liners(read Deja Chu) are hilarious. The music is functional. Director Mrighdeep Singh Lamba who directed the first in the series too, has an interesting style of narration. Another strong point is the characterization though most can be attributed to the former.
Ali Fazal as Zafar is effortless. So is Manjot as Laali. Pulkit Samrat finds form in this film as Hunny. Richa Chadha as Bholi Punjaaban is aptly cast. Pankaj Tripathi as Panditji is a breath of fresh air. But the screen stealer once again is Varun Sharma as Choocha. Nailing one liners and keeping the proceedings alive, he has delivered and how!
The verdict is out- Fukrey was way funnier than Fukrey Returns. But, Fukrey Returns manages to hold its own and does not disappoint. Go watch it with your Fukra Gang!!
PS : The two African guys were hilarious too!!
