Bad Genius
Every one has seen or been friends with a nerd in school, maybe you’re a nerd. But have you ever thought that a nerd could be a wild-bold-hustler? Well if you havent met a nerd who is actually fun, then you have to watch bad genius, an intelligent thai movie that kept me on my toes till the very end and also made me jump sometimes.
I wanted to watch a thriller heist movie of teenagers and I came across some suggestions online, bad genius topping the list in almost every article. I thought of giving the movie a shot and I’m so glad i did. Based and inspired from true events where two scholars from a high school cheat-but not from each other, they make their whole class pass their exams by techniques that only a nerd can think of.
The movie is very gripping, it’s very well edited and has a good story line, sometimes you may feel that it is a little over the top but who doesn’t like to go all crazy in a movie like this? Till the time it’s making you feel anxious and excited I guess it’s doing its job. While the movie is about 2 genius students trying to earn quick money by giving their brains in return it also has a social message which you will understand at the end of the movie.
For me, the lead actress of the movie – Chutimon Chuengcharoenukying (lynn) was a little robotic in the start and I think the casting could be better, but she was fitting the role with time and I started liking her gradually. Everyone in the movie has acted well but my favorite character was Chanon Santinatornkul (bank) who is the other genius in the movie and proves to actually be a genius by the end of it.
The cinematography of the movie is good and the style of the movie is quite different from other thai movies. I wouldn’t say that the movie is perfect but it is definitely a very good watch. If you’re wanting to watch a movie with a bunch of friends on a sunday over some pizza and popcorn, then this is the perfect movie for you. I had a lot of fun while watching this thriller and maybe I’m Inpired to NEVER cheat in my exams after this movie.
