This is my relationship with this film – Meri Pyaari Bindu.
Are are, abhi naa jao chhodkar… There is a lot to come. 5 years of this unconventional yet simple love story. Or a story about love and decisions. With every viewing this film has just grown on to me and how. We have unfamiliar concepts of relationships, happiness, love and the bond two individuals share. Just like two sides of a cassette, yes, in this time of online music, cassette. Even our lives have Side A and Side B, the one before an incident or being an adult – the cute age of puppy love and teenager and the other side – living life.

Meri Pyaari Bindu is a compilation of both sides. It looks into the innocence of early age and the attraction, bond, friendships that take place in one’s life and the journey beyond it. It’s a story from Abhimanyu’s point of view. Abhimanyu, a decent boy who loves to write and has had simple goals in life, is madly in love with Bindu since his childhood. Bindu, fiery, dynamic, beautiful and passionate. She is a firecracker and, as they say, the opposite attracts; she is right opposite what Abhi is.
Meri Pyaari Bindu is a roller coaster of emotions and decisions. In its subtlety, it speaks a lot about how important it is to stay happy in what you decide. Not necessary, the thing that excites you at that moment will keep you hooked for the rest of your lives. Bindu, constantly realises about the mistakes she makes in her decisions and how despite of portraying comfortable and all bubbly, she isn’t that happy. At the same time, Abhi is always clear about what he wants and he wishes to spend his life with Bindu and would do anything and everything for her.
“Pyaar karna bohot log sikhaate hai, par us pyaar ko bhulaate kaise hai ye koi nahi sikhaata.”
True? Isn’t it? Love is organic, and you cannot force into it or out of it. The way to get in is all there but to move out, it’s a lifetime in itself. Bindu, never settled for something she was not comfortable in. After years of separation, when Bindu and Abhi meet again, Bindu is a mother, and that is when she seemed really satisfied and a space she loved to be in. Also, she read Abhi’s book where they were the leads and a love story with a happy ending.
