PATI PATNI AUR WOH

RATING
2.5 Star popcorn reviewss

Off late Bollywood has got into a habit of remaking content(after songs?), whether it is content from down south(Kabir Singh) or remake of yesteryear hits(Judwaa 2). This week releases Pati Patni Aur Woh, an official remake of the 1978 film of the same name. While I havn’t watched the original, the trailer of the remake looked interesting…is the movie all hunky dorey or does ‘woh’ spoil its party…lets find out.

Pati Patni Aur Woh, as the title suggests, follows the story of a couple living in paradise till a ‘temptation’ enters the arena. What follows is a vicious cycle of confusion and mayhem! The story obviously is NOT novel. The screenplay is patchy and tries to make you chuckle at silly jokes though a few punches do land. However, the writing lacks depth and is mostly on the surface unwilling to break the barrier of mediocrity. The dialogues are funny in places but that is about it. Music is peppy. Director Mudassar Aziz who last directed the insipid ‘Happy Phirr Bhaag Jayegi’, doesn’t quite find his feet. Direction just lacks the punch!

Aparshakti Khurrana has managed to hold his own and makes quite a few punches land! Ananya Pandey in her second outing post SOTY 2, is above average though she looks stunning. Bhumi Pednekar is her usual self doing a good job. Kartik Aaryan is just about average and the problem is he is repeating himself. He has created a genre like Ayushmann Khurrana but all his characters seem extensions of the ones he has played in his earlier films. He needs to reinvent himself! KK Raina and Rajesh Sharma are wasted.

Pati Patni Aur Woh is just about average. It is a light watch and doesn’t require you to use too much of your brains. If you end up using them, you would question several scenes and the logic behind them. The movie is meant only for relaxed viewing without taking itself too seriously. Unfortunately I did and was left disappointed mainly due to its mediocrity. Watch it if you must!
