Lootcase
A few days ago it was Disney+Hotstar which announced a set of 7 films which would directly premiere on the OTT platform. While some of the big names graced the event, I was actually a bit stumped as to why a couple of the actors were missing especially when their films were part of this announcement. And most importantly I was shocked of why Lootcase wasn’t promoted enough, because its trailer(released in 2019 when it was supposed to have a theatrical release) was outright hilarious. Well, the film is finally out, do we get to know the reason…lets find out.
Lootcase is the story of Nandan who stumbles on a suitcase full of money and keeps it. Unknown to him, there are more than one goons after this too! The story with chaos at the centre is hilarious. The screenplay is fast paced and doesn’t bore you at any given point of time. The interactions between characters and its share of twists will keep you hooked and booked. This is a character driven screenplay and so this is one of the strongest points here! The dialogues are hilarious and in a few scenes you will literally die laughing. Music is the weak link here, it was just not required as it stalls the flow of the proceedings. Director Rajesh Krishnan definitely knows his humour well, and he has done a swell job!
The performances just create magic here together! Perhaps the best bunch of talented actors that I have seen in a long time together! Aakash Dabhade as Graduate does manage to tickle your funny bone. So does Manuj Sharma as Faizu especially in the climax. Nilesh Divekar as Rajan is very good. Aryan Prajapati the little boy just nails his one liners! Sumit Nijhawan as Omar has his moments to shine. Vijay Raaz as Bala, oho oho oho. What acting. He found subtle humour in lines which weren’t traditionally funny and a lesser experienced actor would have struggled! Gajraj Rao as MLA Patil delivers another outstanding performance striking the right chords with comedy. Ranvir Shorey as Kolte is outright hilarious and excellent. Rasika Dugal as Lata is so underrated and probably the only sane character here. And she holds her own in style! Kunal Khemu as Nandan is brilliant and you just fall for his innocence and goofiness. Bollywood why aren’t you utilizing his talent???
Lootcase is a hilarious watch that will leave a wide smile on your face. I still can’t figure why Disney Hotstar did not promote this gem of a film. Fans of Films like Delhi Belly are in for a treat, this Lootcase is a suitcase full of laughter, you cannot miss this! Available on Disney Hotstar and Highly Highly Recommended!
